Politics is politics...and it can get ugly!

The machinations of politics is currently taking it's toll on what's commonly known as the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Bill. It's attached to another bill that is getting tossed around and chopped up by Congress and the White House right now.
Go to the Human Rights Campaign and learn more about it and send an e-mail to your congressperson NOW!
Any thing can still happen and lose us the race....oh, like choosing "Hunt It" rather than "Hoist It?" grrrrrrrr! If only getting equal rights were as straightforward as running the Race!

Contracts is contracts...

Hey all,

Yep, had to clear out all the old posts in which we commented on the Race or other racers...turns out we signed a contract with CBS that says no dice to that sort of snarkiness while the Race is still airing...who knew? I know they always say read the fine print, but whatever...like did you ever read the entire stack of paperwork when you signed for a loan?

Anyway, we'll walk a finer line from now on. Although we're gonna get crazy and take the big risk of keeping the photo on the right...oooh, don't we live dangerously!?

We'll still send you to sites we like, where you can go on line and gab about us. We especailly like the conversation on Television without Pity and the super-funny (PG-13) "photochop" thread on Survivor Sucks. (But Survivor doesn't suck...we love that show, too!)

Most of all, check out Elimination Station on CBS.com's Innertube (can't make a link--you gotta go there yourself) and see the fun and games in Portugal. They post a new video about once a week...maybe more often as more teams arrive. There you can also see many more "behind the scenes" videos of the racers in Africa and beyond.

As long as you're surfing, check out the national Episcopal Church site - there you can find out more than you ever wanted to know about being an Episcopalian. Two other favorites of ours are the Human Rights Campaign and Matthew Shepard.org. We hope you'll visit both, read their messages, and get behind them. On HRC you can find a holiday buying guide and on Matthew Shepard if you scroll down, you'll see us wearing our Erase Hate bracelets on the Race.

So this is what we know for now...we're worried about the fire in Malibu...it's ugly orange smoke coming up over the mountains this morning...bad news.

Advent peace,

Kate and Pat
